Many web page generators don't always produce clean web pages, especially if you don't know how to use them well. HTML is not difficult to learn. You can create a more effective web site by hand than you can using some generators. Even if you do decide to use a generator, you should know how to edit the HTML by hand in case the generator doesn't quite get it right, or you want to make some minor updates.
        When the World Wide Web Consortium defined the HTML specifications used by Internet Explorer 3.x and Netscape Navigator 3.x, they put together a Windows help file describing the specifications. It is a good overview of all of the HTML tags and what they do.
